Horton, Kans.  The City of Horton, Kansas Rural Water Association and Kansas Department of Commerce have agre that will secure theBlue Building future of the Blue Building.  It was discovered shortlyed to a remediation plan after demolition of the Blue Building that nearly all of the piers on the south side of the building had experienced less than tolerable movement for the integrity of the red iron frame of the structure.  In addition, the concrete patio slab flooring along the south of the building had also heaved due to the ability of cold air to access sub-grade of the concrete.   Volunteers with experience in steel, iron and concrete work are encouraged to contact City Hall if the volunteer has not already signed up for the Blue Building project.

On January 31, 2008, City Administrator Levi Henry sent an electronic newsletter and update to all volunteers of the Blue Building Project explaining the delay and the plan to finish the project.  The Foundation Remediation Plan is available on HortonKansas.net under the Planning Documents of the Blue Building webpage and Blue Building Newsletter is, also, available online under the Volunteer Updates section of the Blue Building page on HortonKansas.net.

Volunteers will soon be contacted to arrange for times and plan execution.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact City Hall by phone at (785) 486-2681 or by e-mail at cityofhorton@hortonkansas.net.
